What Kululu does well

Let's be fair — Kululu is popular for good reasons, and for plenty of events it's perfectly enough:

• It's genuinely cheap to start. There's a real free tier, and the paid plans are one-time payments — $39 (Plus) / $99 (Pro) as of June 2026 — rather than a subscription. For a single small party, that's hard to argue with.

• Guests don't need an app or an account. Scan the QR code, upload from the phone, done. That zero-friction flow is the whole point of this category, and Kululu nails it. (So does Gathmo — this is table stakes, not a differentiator.)

• Photos, video, and a live slideshow are all included, plus AI content moderation to keep the gallery clean, and a batch ZIP download so you can grab everything afterwards.

If your event is a casual get-together, your guests are US-based, and you only need photos and video on a screen, Kululu will do the job.

Where Gathmo is different

Three gaps are worth knowing about before you decide.

1. Voice messages — and transcripts. Kululu collects photos and video, but it has no audio guestbook.
